Ingrowing toenail

Ingrowing toenails can cause severe pain and walking problems. Often, the nail digs into the skin, causing irritation, swelling and infection.

Chiropodists or podiatrists can usually deal with the condition successfully. If this treatment is not successful, partial or complete nail removal may be required (wedge excision of the ingrowing toenail or nail plate avulsion and root ablation surgery).
