I have suffered a sporting injury

When participating in sport, anyone can suffer an injury through a fall, twist or collision. By resting, treating with ice, elevating the limb, receiving physiotherapy and returning gradually to activities, most injuries heal fully in time.

However, some injuries require further medical attention. A locked knee, tendon injury, or broken ankle might need surgery or a plaster cast to enhance recovery and reduce the risk of lasting problems. Tendon injuries can also occur when athletes change running distances, shoes, or running surfaces. Individuals lacking a good natural foot posture are more likely to suffer such injuries and recovery can be slow.

Following surgery, a skilled physiotherapist will help you return to full fitness, correcting any problems you might have with posture and helping strengthen your muscle tissues. Injuries can also reduce your body's subconscious control of your limb's position and coordination (proprioception). Your physiotherapist can assist with this, helping reduce the chances of suffering a new injury.
