Tarsal tunnel syndrome
This is a heel pain caused by pressure on, or pinching of, a nerve running around the ankle. It is similar to the more common condition of carpal tunnel syndrome in the hand. However, tarsal tunnel syndrome is harder to diagnose and responds less predictably to surgery. Sometimes electical tests are done.
